Our SERVPRO professionals are equipped with the tools and expertise to assist you with mold damage remediation in your Little Rock home.
SERVPRO in Little Rock Offers Expert Mold Remediation Services
Microbial growth usually occurs when moisture gets into the home. Mold spores grow rapidly in the right conditions. The typical life cycle for micro-organisms is from spore to colony within 72 hours. These short cycles mean that an infestation can creep up unnoticed by a homeowner. SERVPRO offers qualified remediators to help return your home to a normal condition.
Properties with mold damage in Little Rock tend to worsen before they get better. The affected area may have to be stripped down to the structural framework to resolve the underlying infestation under challenging situations. The good news is that the most affected materials are usually the cheapest and easiest to replace. Expensive organic materials such as floorboards or structural frames are generally less porous than Gypsum board or drywall. Since fungi penetrate surfaces through hyphae, less porous materials tend only to suffer light surface damages from an infestation, whereas more porous materials can often be completely penetrated. Even when there are signs of a deeply embedded mold problem, our technicians can often use abrasive equipment such as sandblasters to remove surface layers and save most material.
Abrasive Cleaning Methods Used in Microbial Remediation
- Steel wool and dry brushes can be effective on solid, dense materials that are unlikely to scratch.
- Sand, soda, and ice blasting equipment is the most efficient method for removing fungi but can end up stripping varnishes or paint along with microbes.
- Chemical strippers are useful when there is a microbial presence, but the underlying material is dry.
Deciding on the best method for ridding a property of microbial growth requires training and expertise. Our technicians attain nationally recognized qualifications in applied microbial remediation (AMRT) before working on your home and usually have extensive experience in more general areas of water damage restoration, mitigation, and repair. Understanding different methodologies for removal and when to apply them is critical to ensuring that our remediation is as efficient as possible. We can also help address the underlying cause, which gives homeowners peace of mind knowing that an infestation is unlikely to return. At SERVPRO, we provide our technicians with state-of-the-art equipment to ensure they can put their training to use in the most effective way possible.
Preventing Microbial Growth in Residential Properties
- Installing vapor barriers in crawlspaces can help prevent water vapor from condensing onto a subfloor and causing an infestation.
- Checking roofing after adverse weather conditions can help to guard against microbial infestation in attic spaces.
- Ensuring proper insulation in all rooms of the home, including external spaces like garages, can reduce the likelihood of moisture buildup.
It is impossible to sanitize a home environment from potential microbial growth thoroughly. However, SERVPRO professional remediation technicians can help to ensure that spores do not grow into full-size colonies and cause a problem in your home. We are experts at dealing with secondary damages associated with molds, including odor problems, water mitigation, and drywall replacement.
If you suspect a microbial growth issue in your home, contact SERVPRO of Little Rock for mold damage remediation at (501) 803-9700.

Mold Remediation in Little Rock– Contain, Remove, Clean, Dry, Prevent and Restore
The science of mold remediation in Little Rock is a straightforward process that must be followed to avoid further mold contamination incidents and damage to homes and contents. The experts at SERVPRO are well versed in this process with lots of experience helping clients.
SERVPRO provides mold remediation services to Little Rock clients following industry standards and local and state laws concerning the removal of mold-contaminated materials. Our technicians can discuss all aspects of the process with our clients and insurance adjusters to manage insurance claims
The process followed by SERVPRO during mold remediation includes the following:
- Contain
- Remove
- Clean
- Dry
- Prevent
- Restore
Contain – containment of the area where the mold is located prevents mold spores from being distributed to other home areas. HVAC air distribution systems are closed, and negative pressure rooms contain further contamination.
Remove – porous materials contaminated by mold must be bagged in place and removed. Non-porous materials are wiped clean and disinfected. Technicians work from the top down, allowing mold spores to settle. Sanding, wiping with damp clothes, and brushing remove the mold. HEPA vacuums are used to vacuum spores and loose mold.
Clean – surfaces are cleaned from top to bottom and in the direction of the airflow, which exhausts the spores through HEPA filters and to the outside. We allow time for mold spores to settle before the next cleaning round.
Dry – once the mold is removed, air movers and dehumidifiers dry the structure and lower the humidity to normal levels.
Prevent – the source of the moisture contributing to mold growth must be identified and corrected. Otherwise, mold infestations will continue to appear, and moisture levels will increase.
Restore – Our building services experts managed by SERVPRO can help our clients fully restore their homes “Like it Never Even Happened.”

Contacting us for the job makes sense because our skilled technicians can restore your home to its pre-mold state when possible.
SERVPRO mold damage restoration teams in Little Rock are very diligent. You can trust them to take safety precautions during the containment phase to prevent mold from spreading to other areas of your home. First, our technicians seal areas such as windows, hallways, and doors with plastic sheeting to contain airborne spores. Plus, they block air vents to keep mold spores from spreading throughout your home via the heating and cooling system.
Removal begins after our IICRC trained techs seal the affected areas. The surfaces we clean mold from can include porous surfaces like carpeting. We often use anti-fungal sprays to eliminate mold and stop mold growth. Typically, we clean non-porous surfaces like metal or glass with wet sponges and detergents. Techs may also utilize a HEPA-filtered vacuum to remove layers of mold from non-porous surfaces and pick up and trap mold spores. Crews may use agitation methods such as wire brushing, sanding, or damp wiping to remove mold.
After the containment and cleaning stages, our techs can begin to dry the area. An axial fan is one of the best tools for this phase. These fans are high-velocity and quickly push damp air from the structure, which helps speed up the drying process. The team may also use air movers to draw in dry and warm air aiding with moisture elimination. Our team strategically places dehumidifiers to reduce moisture levels inside the structure. If a pipe breaks underneath your home in Little Rock, the water can affect structural components without you realizing it. Water can leak into your crawl space and cause many problems. Many crawl spaces already have elevated temperatures and humidity levels, making it a prime location for microbial growth.
Extra moisture added to a crawl space increases the chances of a fungus developing. For mold damage in Little Rock to occur, it needs an organic food source, the right temperature, and moisture.
Once microbes develop inside a structure, they can quickly reproduce and cause problems in other locations. Once the spores mature, they form structures called hyphae. The hyphae grow down into the material and up above it and across the surface. The hyphae then release spores into the airflow of the building that floats around until they settle down into a new location.
If mold develops inside your crawl space, it can cause damage to structural components. Fungi can also create foul odors that can affect your entire house. Microbes inside your crawl space also can make their way into your ventilation system, causing air quality issues.
Whenever our IICRC trained technicians remediate fungal issues, we take extreme measures to prevent spores from spreading to unaffected areas. Before any work begins, the crawl space gets sealed off so that no dust or debris created by the restoration process spreads across the building. We use poles and thick plastic to build a containment chamber around the affected area of the crawl space.
If the entire crawl space is contaminated, then the floor joists get sealed off so that the insulation in the floor does not get affected. Once the affected region is sealed off from the rest of the home, the contaminated materials get removed. If the mold has not gone too deep into the floor joists, they can be sanded down and restored. After sanding, the affected wood gets sprayed with a specialized sealant paint.
Before the containment chamber gets taken down, we vacuum all dust and debris with a vacuum that has a HEPA filter. If you ever need help with microbial growth inside your crawl space, call SERVPRO of Little Rock at (501) 803-9700 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Addressing Mold Damage Early is Key in Protecting North Little Rock Homes
Mold in North Little Rock homes is not uncommon, but the extent of what mold growth can do to your home is not as clear. Mold may cause health effects to those who live in the house, but some homeowners do not realize that a growing mold colony can cause structural damage and compromise your furniture and personal belongings. When we fail to understand just how dangerous mold can be, it may take us a while to reach out to a professional restoration team, letting mold spread in the meantime.
If you need a mold inspection in your North Little Rock home, call our SERVPRO team and let our leading team care for your needs. Some Mistakes in Dealing With a Mold Infestation in Little Rock That You Should Avoid
9/29/2021 (Permalink)
When a mold infestation affects your home, panic can set in. Call SERVPRO to investigate the cause and the extent of the damage.
Preventing Cross-Contamination of Your Little Rock Home After Mold
Containing microbes and spores circulating throughout a mold-damaged Little Rock home is vital to reducing the spread and severity of this condition. As challenging as addressing these threats might initially appear, we have a team of trained specialists accredited as Applied Microbial Remediation Technicians (AMRT.) Additionally, we have a division of general contractors capable of offering focused, controlled demolition to aid the remediation process.
Cross-contamination is a constant threat during active mold damage within Little Rock homes. The introduction of spores to new areas of your home can allow for the spread of colonization far beyond the source. Microbes and spores can travel through the HVAC system and air ducts as well, using these channels to reach new areas of the household. When remediation begins in your residence, one of the practical initial steps our AMRTs take is to turn off circulating air appliances like your air conditioner.
Mold Inspections, Remediations, and Removal
Preventing the introduction of these spores to new environments also hinges on the installation of containment barriers. During controlled demolition, soda blasting, sanding, and other removal practices, spores and microorganisms can become aerosolized. These approaches occurring within a sealed environment allow our SERVPRO technicians to effectively trap these threats and particulates with the use of sophisticated filtering systems like our HEPA air scrubbers.
We often establish a small area alongside our work zone to allow for the removal of contaminated coveralls and personal protective equipment to reduce the transfer of active spores into the clean air of undamaged regions of your house. Once mold remediation tactics are complete, including the reconstruction of removed materials by our licensed general contractors, our SERVPRO team can do a final thorough cleaning to make it “Like it never even happened.”
No matter how severe mold damage threats can be in your household, it can get worse without the diligent containment strategies of our SERVPRO of Northwest Little Rock team. With our training and advanced technology, we can help you to overcome most mold threats that exist in your home. Give us a call anytime that you need us at (501) 803-9700.
How Quickly Should Extraction Begin After Water Damage in Little Rock?
8/20/2021 (Permalink)
Water extraction is critical after an event occurs as it prevents further damage and deterioration. Contact SERVPRO to handle this process.
Importance of Fast Extraction in Water Damaged Little Rock Homes
There are many reasons that water damage incidents should not get left to resolve themselves in your Little Rock residence. With even moderate situations, damaging effects can still spread far beyond the source to affect multiple areas, materials, and contents. Additionally, affected areas include remote locations and spaces where homeowners cannot accurately determine the presence of saturation and moisture so that these effects can go unchecked and uncorrected without the expertise and equipment of skilled professionals like ours.
We know how vital it is to address damage in your Little Rock home, beginning with water removal, as promptly as possible. While there are multiple tools at the disposal of our experienced SERVPRO team, for standing water scenarios it is often wise for our team to assess the severity of the situation before determining the best equipment to use. Our technicians arrive with the full measure of these options to immediately deploy the best tool for the job.
Why Extraction and Mitigation Should Begin as Quickly as Possible
There are multiple reasons why water extraction and mitigation as a whole must get started as promptly as possible following a water damage incident. Without full knowledge of the severity and spread of the situation, homeowners can allow moisture and saturation to persist out of sight. This lingering dampness can facilitate microbial growth and can also directly damage structural elements and degrade construction materials.
Another reason why mitigation must begin as quickly as possible is the containment strategies that our SERVPRO professionals utilize. With these practices, physical barriers, and advanced equipment, we can stop the spread of water damage throughout your property. At the same time, we get to work on removing pooling water and drying out the affected regions with air movers and dehumidifiers.
It is imperative for professionals like our SERVPRO of Northwest Little Rock team to get to work quickly on water damage that occurs in your house. We understand what equipment and tactics are necessary to make these damages “Like it never even happened.” Give us a call anytime at (501) 803-9700.
Why SERVPRO for Removing Mold Damage From Little Rock Homes
6/25/2021 (Permalink)
Mold damage will take over your property before you know what is going on. Call SERVPRO of Little Rock for protection from further issues.
Property Owners in Little Rock Often Turn to SERVPRO for Professional Mold Remediation
Mold spores are common to every Little Rock home, but an active mold infestation is not a common occurrence. Cleaning the house and then removing the mold spores requires a trained service to return it to a pre-infestation condition.
Most Little Rock mold damage remains confined to a room or a section of a home. SERVPRO restoration crews train to remediate (cannot eliminate) mold by establishing containment, removing contamination, and cleaning structural and personal property depending on the surface type of affected materials.
First Step of Mold Damage Remediation
First, technicians isolate the contaminated area to prevent unintentionally spreading mold throughout the structure. Our crews use plastic sheeting to cover all entry and exit points like doors, windows, and hallways. They also seal the air vents to stop passive airflow and block the HVAC system from drawing air and mold spores into the rest of the home. If the infested area is extensive, crews may set up a clean room to store tools and clothing while removing mold to help prevent spreading mold spores.
Step Two, Mold Removal
Next, SERVPRO technicians remove the mold contamination from affected surfaces. They fall into two categories, porous and non-porous. Porous surfaces include carpets, fabrics, and insulation. With most of these surfaces, crews have to remove the property from the affected area. Technicians remove items like upholstered furniture and curtains outside the home to clean them. They can clean carpets using an anti-fungal agent and a shampoo machine to kill the spores and remove them with the contaminated water. Insulation, depending on the type and degree of contamination, maybe cleanable. However, when in doubt, throw it out.
Non-porous surfaces are items with glass, metal, or hard plastic for the tops and sides. Technicians can usually clean these with a wet sponge and a mild detergent if needed. For thicker mold layers on these surfaces, our restoration specialists can use vacuums with a HEPA filter that can pick up and trap even a single spore off a countertop.
There is also a smaller category of semi-porous materials, which include concrete and wood. These rougher surfaces require agitation of the surface to remove mold spores from every crack and crevice. Standard agitation actions include sanding, wire brushing, and damp wiping with an abrasive cleaning agent. Ice or soda blasting are advanced techniques for abrasively removing mold patches and hyphae without causing a mess.
Cleaning and removing mold from the surfaces in a home requires a professional restoration company. If you need us, call SERVPRO of Little Rock at (501) 803-9700 today.
What To Expect During Fire Damage Restoration In Little Rock
6/20/2021 (Permalink)
A fire outburst is scary enough, do not tackle the damage on your own. Call SERVPRO of Little Rock we want to help.
Why SERVPRO for Fire Damage Restoration
A fire in your Little Rock residence can be an overwhelming experience. Often ignited by an accident or failure to monitor a common household task like cooking or a decorating decision like lighted candles, the blaze is unexpected. The homeowner or family members can feel incapacitated in the aftermath with fear or even guilt. Our professional fire restoration crews manage the damage and set your mind at ease.
The extent of and variations in the fire damage to your Little Rock dwelling can be daunting. Your instincts and reliance on other cleanup experiences do not provide the foundation needed to mitigate the damage appropriately. Charring, smoke, and soot damage require specialized techniques, tools, and products for the best outcomes. Fire extinguishing also leaves most homes soaked in water and chemicals. This complex mix of challenges requires our broad spectrum of disaster restoration training and skills.
Water & Fire Damage Restoration
Our production team leads arrive ready to assess and plan for all aspects of the damage. Water removal and structural drying precedes other tasks for safety and to prevent secondary issues such as microbial growth. Then the SERVPRO team focuses on cleaning the residues left by the fire.
If the fire burned, fast and hot, loose and ashy debris is typical, frequent when the fire ignites paper or other quickly burning items. Fires in the kitchen are often protein-based, leaving a sticky, almost lacquer-like substance on surfaces. Electrical shorts and oily rags or other slower burning fires combust incompletely, spreading a dark, thick, and sticky soot. SERVPRO crews evaluate the characteristics of the residues and match tools and products to the particular circumstances of your home fire.
Ash and light soot respond well to brushing with dry sponges and vacuuming with HEPA fitted equipment. The hardened leavings of a kitchen fire can require solvents or other bond-dissolving cleaners. After electrical and other slower burns, heavy coatings benefit from cleaning products containing wetting agents and surfactants that loosen and lift the heavy soot. SERVPRO technicians train extensively in methods that allow for effective abrasive actions without permanent damage to the surfaces treated when the soot adheres firmly.
We work fast but professionally, the speed necessary because the acidic residues from a fire progressively damage all building materials and your prized possessions. SERVPRO also packs out fire damaged movable items to clean and restore off-site. We also offer deodorization services that eliminate, not cover up, fire-related smells. All the tasks take time, most efficiently done by our team of fire damage specialists.
Take the first steps to restore your home to “Like it never even happened.” Engage the services of SERVPRO of Little Rock. Call (501) 803-9700 immediately after the firefighters leave to get the process moving.

SERVPRO Offers Artistic Fire Damage Cleanup and Restoration for Little Rock Properties
One of the attractive aspects of Little Rock is how devoted the area is to preserving its history and encouraging modern artists to pursue their dreams. The ability to do this comes in many structures throughout the city and its surrounding areas. Museums and art centers both serve to help promote a sense of pride with Arkansas's people in the capital city. Cultural awareness also ensures that past mistakes are not forgotten so that the people can never be doomed to repeat them. Some of the most recognized and memorable institutions, cultural centers, and museums draw in the most considerable traffic from both locals and tourists.
MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History
Though this museum has only been in operation since 2001, it exists as the last remaining remnants of the original U.S. Arsenal at Little Rock that was constructed between 1840 and 1841. To be an even more poignant location for military history, one of the structures used in this modern museum was the birthplace of famed General Douglas MacArthur, who later became a supreme commander of forces in the South Pacific during the World War II conflict. Today, the museum showcases prominent Arkansas military personnel's roles, including Gen. MacArthur, through the major wars and battles that defined the nation.
William J. Clinton Presidential Center
While there is a total of 13 presidential libraries in the country, the one located at the William J. Clinton Presidential Center is among the largest. In terms of the volume of its archives and accrued publications, the center boasts over 80 million pages of documents, 21 million emails, 2 million photographs, and close to 80,000 artifacts from the eight years Bill Clinton served as President of the United States. Among these thousands of items and relics are gifts to the President from celebrities, the limousine used to chauffeur the Commander in Chief around, and full-scale replicas of the full Oval Office and Cabinet Room as it appeared during this period.
Museum of Discovery
Within walking distance of the Presidential Center is the Museum of Discovery here in Little Rock. This building is one of the oldest centers of its kind in the state, being established in 1927. Did you know that Arkansas has its own dinosaur? The Museum of Discovery is one of only three locations with a fossil mold of the Arkansaurus fridayi, or the Arkansas Dinosaur. Today, the museum benefits from multiple interactive exhibits and has become a sign of the growth and expansion of technology in science and discovery for all educational fields.
Arkansas Arts Center
When tourists visit Little Rock, they have the opportunity to visit this location that has been on the list of 10 best attractions in the state of Arkansas since 2011. The center features permanent exhibits of art throughout the museum's entire history, beginning as a Museum of Fine Arts back in 1937 in MacArthur Park. There are always limited runs of modern art and entertainment exhibits throughout the year to keep recurring and new traffic happening. The impressive collection of permanent art includes creations from Rembrandt, Edgar Degas, Pablo Picasso, and Andrew Wyeth. Post-pandemic operations should see the return of the renowned Arkansas Art Center Children's Theatre company.
Old State House Museum
Preserving national monuments and structures has always been a priority for the proud state of Arkansas, so it is no surprise that the capital city strives to do the same. An excellent example of this is the Old State House historic property and museum, the oldest surviving capital structure to the west of the Mississippi River. Its significance in American history is vital. Within this structure, the 4th Constitutional Convention came to the terms necessary for freedmen to vote and develop a widespread public education network.
Historic Arkansas Museum
Locals have taken to shortening this museum's name into HAM, and it is one of the most comprehensive historical centers in the state. This structure is devoted exclusively to the influence that Arkansas has had on the ups and downs of the United States. The museum has existed in part since 1941. It has been almost continually revamped and reformulated to include each stage of the state's illustrious history and place among the country's current events. Exhibits include artifacts and relics from pioneer times, World War II and General Douglas MacArthur, and Arkansas' own William J. Clinton serving as President of the United States from 1993 to 2001.
Protecting Damaged Contents in Your Home After a Fire
Cleaning up after a fire loss incident in your Little Rock home can be an enormous undertaking for even the experienced professionals of our SERVPRO of Little Rock team. Pre-mitigation scoping can identify potential issues with your property's contents and determine the best actions to take to preserve and restore them. This similar process is critical in evaluating and designing a restoration plan for single-family homes, the same as recovering post-fire damage to the many museums in the city.
Cleaning contents on-site is the more desirable option, as this prevents relocation to our SERVPRO facility and keeps your belongings together. Cleaning within your home can begin as soon as emergency services like a controlled demolition and air quality control complete. Most often, content restoration involves removing soot and smoke residues from surfaces and neutralizing odors trapped in porous materials. A combination of potent cleaning agents, solvents, and detergents can address residues and soils of varying composition.
Off-site restoration through the pack-out process is designated for contents that are too severely damaged to restore in the house. There are multiple advanced technologies and tools used to deeply clean exposed belongings, including the Esporta Wash System for soft materials and the ultrasonic submersion tank for hard surfaces coated with thick soot residues.
Despite how damaging fire losses can be for Little Rock homes, a fast response from certified professionals like our SERVPRO of Little Rock team can make it "Like it never even happened." Give our experienced technicians a call today at (501) 803-9700.

What Does SERVPRO Do That I Cannot Do Myself?
SERVPRO Has Access to Professional High-Quality Equipment and Expert Knowledge
Fire dmage in your Little Rock home is not straight forward. Depending on the type of fire, visible damage may vary. For instance, a protein kitchen fire can result in a sticky film-like residue all over your kitchen. Protein fires require a different type of cleanup process than other kinds of fires. Professionals like our SERVPRO technicians can quickly identify the required cleaning techniques for your specific situation. Another major factor is removing the malodor caused by smoke traveling to all corners of your home.
What Deodorization Equipment Does SERVPRO Use?
- ULV Fogger (Wet Fogger): Uses cold fogging techniques; the fog comes in the form of small droplets that use low-pressure air stream to dissipate throughout your home.
- Thermal Fogger (Dry Fogger): Uses a heater to vaporize a deodorant solution that sprays in a fog.
- Ozone Generator: Produces ozone that penetrates and oxidizes odor. It requires extra precautions as concentrated ozone can be toxic.
What Safety Precautions Does SERVPRO Take During Deodorization?
- During fogging and ozone use, residents, pets, and plants need to leave the home.
- Technicians ensure proper ventilation for extended amounts of time (24hr plus) after fogging and ozone generator use.
- Technicians wear appropriate PPE while using the equipment.

How Does SERVPRO Dry My Home After Severe Flooding?
8/20/2020 (Permalink)
Flooding is no match for SERVPRO. We are equipped and ready at a moment's notice to restore your home.
SERVPRO Will Work Hard To Reclaim Your Home From Flood Damage.
Cleanup may seem difficult after floods strike your home in Little Rock. Flood water removal is nearly impossible without the proper equipment, and water damage mitigation can be just as tough to handle. That is why it is best to contact professionals from SERVPRO who have plenty of experience dealing with these types of situations.
How Can SERVPRO Dry My Home?
SERVPRO has extensive experience dealing with flood damage in Little Rock homes. Our teams arrived equipped with the right tools and training to dry your home. First, we can pump the water out of your home using truck-mounted wet vacs, portable wet vacs, or submersible pumps. Once the water is pumped out, we can use the following equipment to finish the drying process:
Air movers to dry carpeting, wall cavities, and beneath cabinets.
Wall Cavity Ventilation System to more efficiently direct air into wall cavities.
Venting Box Fan (Axial Fans) to move large volumes of air. These fans are more powerful than air movers and can vent odors out of rooms or can spread deodorizing fogs.
What Drying System Does SERVPRO Use?
Air movers turn moisture that is trapped in the surfaces in your home into humidity. In order to prevent further damages, excess humidity must be removed with dehumidifiers. When dehumidifying a house, there are two systems we use:
A closed system. Closed systems are entirely shut off from the outdoor environment and solely rely on dehumidifiers to extract moisture from your home.
An open system. This system allows for airflow from outside, but it only works when the outside air is drier and leaves homes susceptible to security breaches.
SERVPRO of Northwest Little Rock is here if you are in immediate need of flood damage mitigation. Our teams are on standby 24/7, so call us at (501) 803-9700 to begin the restoration process.
